Welcome! Why does this website exist? This is the first post on this blog.
Howdy, earthlings! I'm creating this little blog because I couldn't find much information about doing a camper conversion with a 2010 Volkswagen Routan. The Routan is similar to both the Dodge Grand Caravan and the Chrysler Town & Country; knowing this can help you when you're looking for camper conversion ideas. I thought I'd collect some of the things I'm learning to make it easier for anyone out there who picks up a used Routan and has the idea of putting a bed and some curtains in it.
Let's start by clearing one thing up: What does "Routan" mean, anyway?
WardsAuto.com is an annoying website to load on a slow connection, but it explains that Volkswagen released a few vans in Europe with names ending in "-an." Those vans are the Touran and the Sharan. Apparently they decided to continue the tradition with the Routan by stuffing "-an" onto the end of "route," and there you have it.
It's a comfortable van to drive, and it has a few interesting storage areas that other minivans of its size don't have. Let's have an adventure, shall we?
