The Volkswagen Routan shares similarities with both the Dodge Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country, specifically in its third-row seats.
You can read all about it here:
- MotorTrend's First Drive: 2009 Volkswagen Routan
- Road and Track's introduction to the Routan
- Autoblog's cheeky intro to the minivan
The takeaway is that Routan is similar to those other vans in some ways and different in others. Since there isn't much (at the time of this writing) information online about Routan camper conversions, you might find it helpful to search for Caravan and Town & Country conversions.
As I mentioned elsewhere on this blog, I was able to learn how to remove my third row seats from a guy with a Caravan on YouTube.
I considered leaving one of my third row seats up and building a bed over the other one like Bob Wells does for a friend with a Town & Country, and I enjoyed his comments on how uneven the floor was in that van. My floor is really uneven, too.
On the other hand, information about how to remove the second-row seats in a Caravan are useless to Routan owners. You have to just take the information as you can get it.
